Fascinating Forest
Indian Feeling
Child Care and supervised children's nature activities in the forests, along the river and in the countryside
All of you who have been with us before know that we love children. Our latest children's programme is called "Fascinating Forest" and includes childcare in co-operation with Henning Riedel and his "Waldschrat" team "(Waldschrat meaning wood gnome). From March 08 to November 02, 2008 we offer childcare of between nine to twenty hours per week to parents and children staying with us for at least one week. On the programme of this nature school is the setting up of a small researcher forest camp, a visit to the river Elbe, getting to know the forest, the countryside and even animal footprints. Playing games with other children is, of course, of great importance, too: The older ones might like to do field games while the young ones will surely love our wood floor digging activities. The camp is also open to parents and their children outside the official childcare hours. This gives children a chance to let their parents become part of what they have been experiencing and exploring and to show them proudly what they have learnt from nature. The diversified programme brings the children closer to nature, may remove some of their fears and let them become more aware of the interconnectiveness of all aspects of nature.
During the holiday time the children can attend the "Fascinating Forest" programme on four days per week (all in all twenty hours, i.e. 3 x 4 and 1 x 8 hours). All children aged from three to twelve years are cordially invited to join these activities.
From April 06 to May 11, 2008, from May 18 to June 22, 2008 and from September 02 to September 28, 2008 we offer a programme for smaller children (toddler to pre-school). Childcare is 3 x 3 hours per week.
For your overnight stay you might like to choose one of our cosy family rooms with two interconnected rooms or a double room with a separate cot. At your request we can also provide you with our special "baby set" comprising a changing table mat, a baby bath tub, a toilet seat and a child stepping stool.
No problem if the weather is bad. The children have two nice and bright playrooms at their disposal. One is upstairs where no-one is disturbed by the frolicking children. The other one is next to the dining room where children can play while their parents finish their tea. Within the parents' sight children may, like to use the swing and slide in the garden outside the dining room.
Adjacent to this play equipment is a large playground perfectly suited for romping. Table tennis, a football table, a football goal, badminton rackets and other equipment await the young athletes. For the occasional camp fires there is a fireplace in the garden. Now and again if the weather is good we offer a children's meal outside. There are regular times when we read stories to younger or older children.

NEW in 2008: Even more of that"Indian Feeling"
Our neighbour, Joachim Irmer, a sun dance practitioner is deeply rooted in the Indian way of life. His course "Indian Feeling" is for children aged between eight and fourteen years. In the twenty hour weekly programme the children will get a lot of valuable information about the way of life of North America's Native People which might go beyond what they knew so far from stories such as the ones written by Karl May. They will also hear about the Native Americans' close relationship with nature and experience a PowWow, native songs, the setting-up of a real teepee and the construction of Native American rattles.

The Course fee for "Indian Feeling" is € 75.- for your first child and € 50.- for any further children.
Indian Feeling for Parents
If you as parents are also interested in the Indian way of life, you might like to get a taste of it by attending a sweat lodge cleansing ceremony.
We have a one day sweat lodge introductory course available. In the morning the sweat lodge and the fire are being built up followed by a two to three hour communal cleansing in the afternoon.
